About us

ABOUT

Josh is a native New Yorker born and raised in the wonderful, and colorful, East Village, and later, Roosevelt Island. He began acting while living in France doing plays in English in a theater group called Frogs On Stage, a mix of francophone and anglophone actors who enjoy the thespian arts. It really solidified his joy of acting, and gave him good insight into the basics of stage acting. In 2012, he and his husband decided to move back to NYC where Josh could start a career as an actor; continuing to live in France wasn't going to make that dream possible.

Within 2 weeks of being back in NYC, Josh had found unpaid work on a short film first as an extra, but then as a paid principal actor upon being suddenly auditioned for a role in the film later during the day, working alongside a then unknown Rachel Brosnahan (aka Mrs. Maisel). The NY acting career had officially started!

No sooner had the career started than it came to a halt with Josh's mother becoming ill. As her condition worsened over the next few years, his responsibility to care for her significantly increased thus putting the career on ice. Sadly, she ended up passing away in May of 2017, but her passing, though painful and upsetting, lifted the weight, and allowed Josh to pick up the reins, and move on, to reignite the career. He knew he had to make things work out in her honor; his mother was a gifted watercolorist who never managed to carve out a career through her art.

Josh dove head first back into his career pursuit. He began performing in community theater productions in New Jersey, and eventually found an agent, which led to his first TV role in 2018 opposite Forest Whitaker in Godfather of Harlem! A huge step to take for his first principal role on TV! The career was off and running! The role had been bounced around a bit as a possible recurring, but didn't happen, with the  scene ultimately getting cut from the episode! Darn! But, from there, Josh landed 2 other TV roles in 2019, back to back - The Blacklist, and For Life. In fact, the audition for For Life started out as an audition for Manifest, but the casting director felt she had something else that might be a good fit.

Career was chugging along nicely!

That same year,  Josh also took a further leap into his career, and left community theater behind to join Actor's Equity, and take theater acting to a more professional level, and push himself as a serious working actor. It wasn't too long before he'd landed his first leading role in his first off-off-broadway Equity musical in January 2020, an original called Full Circle, a show that surprisingly mirrored Josh's life in many ways telling the story of a bi-racial man recounting his life growing up with a white mother and black father. Though the show didn’t open til late 2021 due to the Covid pandemic, it performed to full houses every performance, and was a wonderful foray into the world of musical theater.

The Covid pandemic...2020 brought Josh's career to a halt yet again. Ugh!! This time, though, he thankfully had Full Circle looming in the background, but any hint of film or TV work dried up for 2 years.

In February of 2022, a glimmer of hope pierced the murkiness of the pandemic with a role in a one night charity performance of Fences at the famed Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, NJ playing the role of Gabriel. This was a play Josh had always wanted to be a part of, and Gabriel was such a new type of character to portray, pushing  Josh to explore his range as an actor.

In October that year, Josh landed a role in an original play called Except Mr. Dickinson, playing 2 roles - George Brown, a freed slave, and also the non-fictional character of William Bradford Sr., who had been a longtime friend of Dickinson's, and advocate for independence. Unfortunately, though, Covid came knocking at the stage doors, closing down the show after only 2 performances due to half the cast falling ill. Ugh! Though that was an unfortunate turn, 2022 had actually been a more successful year all around than the last 2 years, and it was clear things were starting to look up.

Last year saw ups and downs as well in Josh's career momentum with a co-starring role on FBI: Most Wanted, and a role in the original LGBTQ play Company of Man. However, as many know, the film/TV actor's union, SAG-AFTRA, went on strike following the WGA strike that started in May, and thus things cooled off in terms of film and TV work. But, in another happy upturn, Josh was thrilled to be reprising his role in Company Of Man, this time as an off-Broadway show at AMT Theater in Manhattan through January 2024!

Now, the new year is well on its way, and Company of Man has come to a close. Josh is anxious to get back to doing film and TV work ASAP, though never taking his eye off the stage. We'll see what comes next!
